SRA-POPI™

This SRA configuration is an instrument software configuration developed by Weatherford Laboratories Instruments Division and Saudi Aramco to make well-site, or near well-site, predictions regarding fluid properties such as API gravity, viscosity, apparent water saturation and bulk composition (i.e. condensate, black oil, or tar) from cuttings, sidewall cores (SWCs), or conventional core samples. Productive zones are typically determined from well-site logging operations, and are based on petrophysical properties. However, petrophysical data indicates where zones could be productive, not necessarily where they are productive. The SRA-POPI™ evaluates fluid properties from the rock to indicate actual productive zones. For example, tar zones cannot be distinguished from high quality oil zones using conventional logging tools, whereas the SRA-POPI™ technique can clearly indentify tar zones that will not be productive. Thus, the SRA-POPI™ can result in substantial cost savings for clients in avoidance of unnecessary completions, identifying by-passed pay zones, and improving well-site decision making.
